ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The annual event kicked off Saturday afternoon with music and activities and continued late. "Ok Go" was the headlining band this year and they took the stage at 10:00 p.m. Six other bands including Six Mile Grove entertained the audience throughout the day.
It takes more than 400 volunteers to put the show on. The Church of St. John the Evangelist started the tradition in 2004.
It continues to be a way for the church to encourage a day of music, food, entertainment and fellowship.
Proceeds stay in the community to fund projects and help better the city. Since the block party started more than $100,000 has been raised and distributed to charities like Channel One Food Bank & Food Shelf and RNeighbors.
