Donald "Donnie" Forti joined KTTC in July 2012. Donnie came to KTTC from WKOW-TV in Madison where he spent two years as a producer. Donnie also worked as a producer for two and a half years at WAOW-TV in Wausau.
Donnie broke into broadcast journalism as a teenager growing up in the Milwaukee area, when he began interning with Wisconsin Public Radio at WHAD-FM. His experience there during the summers from 2001-2005 involved on-air producing, pre-interviewing guests and writing news stories for the Ideas Network.
In June 2006, Donnie emerged from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, with a bachelor's degree in political science and anthropology/sociology, graduating Cum Laude with honors. While at Knox College, Donnie served as webmaster for the Association for Black Culture Centers, a role he has kept ever since.
Donnie achieved a master's degree in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in December 2007. While Donnie was a graduate assistant at the University of Illinois' Department of Journalism, he researched and wrote articles on techniques for investigative reporters. That experience led to his selection as a Carnegie fellow with the Brian Ross Investigative Unit of ABC News in New York, and he helped contribute to the reporting on 20/20 during the summer of 2007.
Donnie is also an avid runner. He has completed the Chicago Marathon and seven half-marathons. Back at Knox College, he ran track/cross country and served as co-captain of the indoor/outdoor track & field team for the 2006 season.
Donnie and his fiancée Megan are planning a wedding for early next year and look forward to exploring the Rochester area.
