MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A Minneapolis man and a Richfield teenager face murder charges after prosecutors say they used a baseball bat and fists to beat a homeless man to death -- then stole $5 to buy liquor.
Hennepin County prosecutors charged 23-year-old Willis Esposito Richardson and a 17-year-old boy with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
According to the complaint, the pair told witnesses on June 29 that they wanted to rob someone. Then, they saw 50-year-old Harry Lee Brown and attacked him.
The complaint says Richardson hit Brown in the legs with the bat, and the teen punched Brown in the face, causing him to fall back and hit his head.
Brown was hospitalized and died Saturday of blunt force injuries.
Messages left for the defendants' attorneys were not immediately returned Tuesday.
