NORTH BRANCH, Minn. (AP) -- Authorities say a sheriff's deputy in Chisago County has shot and killed a man at a residence in North Branch.
Officers were dispatched to the home about 9:20 p.m. Sunday to investigate a disturbance. North Branch police say when officers arrived, they were told a man inside the residence was armed and possibly had fired his gun.
Chief Dan Meyer said in a statement Monday law enforcement officers were confronted by the armed man and a Chisago County sheriff's deputy shot him. The man was airlifted to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
