A car wash fundraiser with an undead twist

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)- Car wash fundraisers are nothing new, but it is not very often you get to see car washers dance as they clean the car.

The Otherwise Actors from the Rochester Civic Theatre are putting on their annual Musical Car Wash at the Eastwood Plaza in Southwest Rochester.

Washers danced and cleaned to "Thriller", "Single Ladies" and a number of other tunes. The songs were also broadcast through an FM frequency so the people in the car can listen along as they wash and dance.

It is a unique event that brings in a lengthy line of cars.

"The reason why this fundraiser is so successful is because we take something that is unique to our group and we turn it into a service," says Maria Schroeder, a member of the Otherwise Actors. "So we take theatre and music and dance and something that's unique to us and turn it into something that other people can use."

The money raised goes toward the youth education programs at the Civic Theatre, and they will be out at Eastwood Plaza next Saturday as well.
