NEAR SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (KTTC) -- Several residents near Spring Valley spotted an unusual tourist on Sunday. Multiple people saw a black bear wandering around the town.
Jon and Debbie Dahl saw the bear on Sunday morning on their way home from church. The Dahl's were at the intersection of County Road 1 and 286th Street when Jon saw a bottle and decided to get it out of the road.
He says the bear was only around for a few seconds and he wasn't scared but he couldn't believe his eyes. Jon says he's never seen a black bear near his home before.
He explains, "So I stopped right here, my wife looked up and right in that corner about four rows in she said 'look there's a bear!' It looked big to me. He was standing probably two or three feet at the top of the corn and he just looked at us and we didn't know what to do."
The Dahl's say their neighbor called after they returned home and had the seen the bear an hour or so before.
Jon says that's when he knew he wasn't crazy! He had a brief thought that maybe someone was playing a trick on him.
