ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Long time city council president Dennis Hanson was taken off life support at Saint Marys Hospital Wednesday afternoon around 3:30.
Hanson suffered a brain aneurysm at his home around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday and was quickly transported to St. Mary's where he was put on life support and later died.
Denny Hanson grew up here in Rochester and is a Mayo High School Graduate.
He was elected to represent the 1st Ward of Rochester in 1999.
Aside from serving as president of city council he also works at Carpet One as Vice President of Business Development.
Today Mayor Brede spoke words of kindness as he discussed how knowledgeable and important Hanson is on the council and the overall great persona he emulates throughout the community.
Mayor Brede says, "He is very popular, he is very outgoing. Denny is a friend of everybody and likes to have a good time. That's Denny, but at the same time I have been very impressed, he wanted to make sure that everybody gets their voice heard and he's a friend. We just wish the best that's for sure."
He is married with six children and six grandchildren.
There were conflicting reports as the day unfolded, but Dennis Hanson has passed away Wednesday afternoon at the age of 57.
