ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- An incredibly warm air mass is blowing northward into the region today from the central plains where 90s and 100s have been common in recent days.
As a result we're expecting what looks to be the hottest day of 2012 in the area today as high temperatures will be in the mid 90s just about everywhere and as more humidity begins to show up this afternoon, our heat indices will begin to reach triple digits.
A Heat Advisory will be in effect for just about the entire viewing area, so it will be a good idea to stay hydrated and in the shade or air conditioning later today.
A weak cold front will swing through the area tonight allowing slightly cooler air into the Upper Mississippi Valley for tomorrow.
There will be a slight chance for a few showers and thunderstorms tomorrow and Friday, but a better chance lies ahead for Saturday as highs "cool" to the mid and upper 80s this weekend.
