Young boy killed by stray bullet in Minneapolis

Updated:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Police say a young boy has died after he was struck by a stray bullet while sleeping on a couch at a Minneapolis home Tuesday.

Authorities say the child, five or six years old, was sleeping on a couch when he was hit about 8:30 a.m. Adults in the home called 911 and the boy was rushed to North Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

KARE-TV reports one adult in the home was injured by fragments or material deflected by the gunshot.

The home is about 20 blocks from the house where 3-year-old Terrell Mayes was killed by a stray bullet six months ago.
