Wild sign goalie Josh Harding to 3-year deal

Updated:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Wild have re-signed goalie Josh Harding to a three-year contract.

The deal was done Tuesday. Harding would've been an unrestricted free agent next month.

The 28-year-old Harding has been a backup throughout his NHL career, but primary goalie Niklas Backstrom is about to begin the last year of his contract and he will turn 35 next February.

Harding tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee during an exhibition game in 2010 and missed the whole season. He came back last fall and posted a 13-12-4 record, 2.62 goals against average and .917 save percentage in 34 appearances and 30 starts in 2011-12.

The Wild's second-round draft pick in 2002 is 41-51-8 with a 2.65 GAA and .916 save percentage for his career.
