HUDSON, Wis. (AP) -- The body of a missing Minnesota teen has been recovered from the St. Croix River at Hudson.
Authorities say the 18-year-old Lake Elmo, Minn., man was at Lakefront Park beach with several friends Monday when they decided to swim the 200-yard channel to the Minnesota side.
Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen says the teen made it one third of the way across when he began to struggle. KARE-TV reports search crews recovered the man's body shortly before midnight.
Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen says the river's current is extremely strong because of its heightened water level.
