One killed in crash near Lewiston

NEAR LEWISTON, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Utica man was killed in a head-on crash east of Lewiston Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Hwy. 14 between Stockton and Lewiston.

46-year-old Faustino Alvarez was headed east on Hwy. 14, when he crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on.  Alvarez died at the scene.

The other driver, a 57-year-old from Winona, was taken to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse and is in critical condition.

That stretch of highway was closed for about 90 minutes.
