ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)- Rochester is home to over 10,000 refugees from different cultures and different parts of the world, and Saturday the community gathered to celebrate those cultures that make Rochester one of a kind.
In honor of World Refugee Day, the Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association put on a "Walk Around the World," featuring the world cultures that make up Rochester.
The event provided everyone with song, dance and visual representations of what makes each individual culture unique.
Event organizers hope that this is a tradition that continues and is seen as a way for the community to bond
"What we want to do is, really, not only to understand the reasons that people are here, but now to welcome them and to also recognize the beauty of culture and the art that they bring," says Ron Buzard, the Executive Director of the Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association.
Among the many presentations there was a Chinese kung fu demonstration, a Cambodian blessing dance and Laotian musicians.
