Rochesterfest bed race

Posted:

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)--  Mother nature may have tried to ruin this years bed race, but that made it an even a bigger splash.

Teams started out the day winning over the judges with chants and cheers. The ad reline started in as they geared up and took off.

Katelyn Bronk, of the Pine Island Student Council teams remarks, "We were going really hard, we had a really good start off, but then our bed frame fell apart." Only seconds into the race things came crashing down on the pine island student council. Katelyn explains, "We picked it up and started running again and finished the race."

These students weren't the only ones who struggled to make it through the muddy ruts.

A member of the "Bed Bath, and Waaay Beyond" says, "The thick tires do not work well in the mud, pushing through the water."

An exhausting race as teams fought for the win at the finish line, and the team from Our Saviors Lutheran church, in Rochester, took first at 55 seconds.

The true victory came from all those involved, as proceed went to benefit Interface Hospitality Network.
