ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Crews were busy Wednesday fighting a fire in northwest Rochester.
Firefighters were called to 29th Street Northwest around 1:45 p.m.
Neighbors say they saw smoke coming from the windows of the upper floor.
Crews were able to get control of a fire that had been burning undetected for awhile in an upstairs bedroom.
The fire was confined to the room, but smoke filled the entire house.
The family was just returning from an out of town trip at the time of the blaze.
The cause is still under investigation, but damage is estimated at $80,000.
A pet bird on the main level did not survive the smoke.
