MN woman dies after jumping off pontoon in NW lake

MENTOR, Minn. (AP) -- A woman died after jumping off a pontoon boat into Maple Lake near Mentor in northwestern Minnesota.

The Polk County sheriff's office says it received a 911 call at 1:45 a.m. Sunday reporting that a woman had jumped off the boat and couldn't be located. Mentor Fire and Rescue sent boats onto the lake. At 2:45 a.m., 55-year-old Cindy Hanson of rural Beltrami was found and brought to shore. Attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.

An autopsy is pending.

A dispatcher told The Forum newspaper of Fargo, North Dakota that no additional information is being released for now.
