School is out for the Summer

BYRON, Minn. (KTTC) -- No more pencils, no more books, summer vacation is officially underway for many students. And what better way to say farewell to the school year than with a celebration?

After months of hard academic work students, staff and faculty at Byron Elementary School wrapped up the school year. They lined the halls as fourth graders walked by "clapping" them out of the building, these top dogs are heading to the middle school next year.

But first, it's summer time. Vacations, playing outdoors and of course, sleeping in.

"I'm going into fifth grade, so I'm a senior out of school. Yes, I will miss my teacher. Are you looking forward to the summer and a new adventure? Yes!," explained Ethan Rud.

"I'm excited for middle school, it means that we're leaving the Byron Elementary Middle School," said Tessa Harmon.

It wasn't just the last day of school for students, it was also a special goodbye for Superintendent Dr. Wendy Shannon. After 12 and a half years with the district, she took one last spin around the block, before retiring. Her last day with the district is June 30th. Wendy, we wish you the best!
