Man convicted in Mason City killing

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) -- A jury has convicted a man in the shooting death of another man in Mason City.

The Cerro Gordo County jury on Wednesday found 32-year-old Jamaal Leslie guilty of first-degree murder. He was accused of gunning down 27-year-old Brandon Crawford in the parking lot of a convenience store in August 2011.

The jury returned the verdict after deliberating the case for about three hours.

Leslie faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
