Kitten stolen from Minn. store returned

Updated:

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (AP) -- A kitten stolen from a Twin Cities area pet store has been returned, but the suspect remains at large.

Officials with the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley say the kitten was left in a cardboard box behind the store Tuesday morning. A person contacted the store's manager saying where the kitten -- estimated to be worth $500 -- could be found.

A woman was caught on surveillance video taking the 8-week-old Persian kitten Saturday from a Petland in Shakopee.

Humane Society officials say the kitten will be evaluated by their veterinarian team to make sure it's healthy. It can be returned to the store pending the outcome of the criminal case.

KARE-TV reports police continue searching for the woman who stole the kitten.
