Man missing in Mississippi River near Winona


WINONA, Minn. (KTTC)-- A 57-year-old man is missing after falling out of a boat in the Mississippi River near Winona.

Police received a 911 call around 4:00 p.m. Thursday. The caller said he was out on the river with his friend when he saw him go over the side of the boat.

He tried throwing his friend a life jacket, but he was not able to grab it and went under the water.

Winona Sheriff Dave Brand says there are nine boats, a helicopter, and 5 search and rescue teams looking for man.

They were searching the river from the Minnesota-Wisconsin border bridge down to lock and dam 6.
