Governor Dayton takes to the air

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)--  Governor Mark Dayton, along with DFL legislative leaders Senator Tom Bakk and Representative Paul Thissen made a stop in Rochester this afternoon.

The lawmakers talked about the Legislative Session that just ended and where we need to go in the future.

Governor Dayton touched on what he will be focusing on next year, including a reduction in property tax and more concentration on education spending.

Over and over the Minnesota representatives referred to this year's session as a "Do nothing session."

Governor Dayton did however bring up some of the victories of this years legislature-- *the passing of the Vikings stadium bill and a bonding bill making it through...even if it wasn't exactly what he was looking for.

Governor Dayton explains, "I regret that my bonding proposal, which was 50 percent larger than what was passed...didn't include the Civic Center for Rochester which I've proposed now for the last two years because I know how vital downtown Rochester is to the to this city, to the region, and to the entire state of Minnesota."

Governor Dayton also introduced two senate hopefuls this afternoon and gave support to a handful of our DFL representatives.
