Students leave their legacy

WABASHA/KELLOG, Minn. (KTTC)--  The senior class of Wabasha-Kellog High School took Friday afternoon to support those affected by cancer and they got the community involved.

More than 200 students and community members of every age joined in Friday's 5k around downtown Wabasha.

This is a part of the school's Leave a Legacy program. Students do something that will leave a positive imprint on the community.

The class came up with a variety of options such as a mural and cleaning up the community, but ultimately decided to go with the 5k to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The seniors say it is a cause close to their hearts after a staff member was recently diagnosed.

The class of just 54 people was able to raise 2-thousand-200- and 80 dollars for the American cancer society.
