Fund set up to help storm victim

LAKE CITY, Minn. (KTTC) --

Less than a week ago massive hailstorms wreaked havoc on our area.  The hail caused extreme damage in parts of Wabasha county and now some people are stepping up to help.

If you recall late last Wednesday evening, severe storms developed producing very heavy rain and hail up to the size of golf balls.

It wasn't just the size of the hail but the amount of it, drifts of up to 4 or so feet could be found around Lake City.

A flash flood brought the hail plus water and debris crashing into Daniel Richardson's newly remodeled basement... everything was destroyed.

This past Saturday a cleanup effort was organized to help clear the mud and debris that still remained after the waters receded.

Unfortunately all of this damage is not covered by the family's insurance.

If you would like to help a relief fund has been set up at Lake City Federal Savings and Loan.

You are asked to make checks payable to Daniel and Diane Richardson and be sure to note that it is a donation.
