Level 3 sex offender to be released into Albert Lea

ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC)-- A high-risk sex offender convicted in two separate sex assaults will be released into the Albert Lea community Thursday.

Level three means they have the highest likelihood of re-offending and these meetings aren't intended to scare the public, but rather to boost public safety.

37-year-old Matthew Radke was convicted in 2008 in Freeborn County of second-degree criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 16 and in January was also sentenced for window peeping.

In Minnesota, offenders are rated based on several criteria, including the seriousness of the offense, age of the victim, prior history and availability of community support.

With the addition of Radke, Freeborn County will have four level three offenders.

As a level three offender he is barred from going to places like schools, daycare centers, parks and pools.
