Mayor for meals day

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)-- Meals on Wheels received some high-powered help Wednesday with deliveries.

The day was nationally recognized as Mayor for Meals Day, so mayors all across the country are delivering meals personally to draw attention to how important this program is in communities all around the country.

Rochester's own Mayor, Ardell Brede lent a hand to those waiting for their warm meal.

Meals on Wheels is a program that provides hot-nutritious, home-delivered meals to people in our community who have trouble preparing or accessing a meal- whether it be the elderly, people recovering from surgery, or those with disabilities.

Rochester volunteers deliver more than 100 meals a week, but the center says they're always needing more people.
