Scouting for food drive

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)--  March is "Minnesota food share month". Food shelves all across the state are trying to bring in as much donations as possible.

The Channel One Food Bank and Food Shelf, in Rochester, is a big part of the process with their annual Scouting for Food, food drive.

Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and adult volunteers packed up the donations. Last year the group brought in 17,000 pounds. With a constant flow of drop-offs and a number of boxes being filled, they are hoping they exceed last years numbers.

Channel One serves nearly 4,000 households each month. The annual food drive is more important than ever for families struggling with hunger.

The most requested food items to help fill the shelves at Channel One include boxed dinners, canned tuna, peanut butter and cereal.
