Rochester Fire Department urging extreme caution on wild fires

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Rochester Fire Department is urging people to be on high alert during the day on Saturday to avoid doing anything that might start a wild fire.

The National Weather Service has issued a "Red Flag Warning" about dry conditions across southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa through 6 p.m.  Strong gusty winds from the southwest could quickly spread fires.  The low relative humidity has made conditions right for wild fires.

RFD Deputy Chief Steve Belau is asking people to use extreme caution with outdoor activities that could touch off a fire.  So far, Belau says no outright burning bans have been instituted but fire department authorities are monitoring conditions.
