Mail delivery suspended at SE Rochester mobile home community

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC/AP) -- Mail delivery has been suspended to about 100 residents of the Parkside Mobile Home Park in southeast Rochester, with the U.S. Postal Service demanding that dogs be tied up and property damage fixed before mail carriers resume walking their routes.

Postal Service spokesman Pete Nowacki says the people who live at Parkside Mobile Home Park will have to travel to the Bear Creek post office off Marion Road SE to get their mail.

Broken sidewalks, mailboxes in disrepair, junked cars and roaming dogs are cited by the Postal Service in ending delivery to the neighborhood.

Resident Linda Ward tells the Post-Bulletin that since she doesn't have a car, she's not sure how she will get her mail. Ward says it's too far to walk to Bear Creek.

Nowacki says the Postal Service rarely resorts to suspending mail service to troubled properties.
