Defense rests in Brandrup trial

Updated:

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The defense has rested in the Adam Brandrup murder trial.

Wednesday morning, rebuttal witnesses took the stand in the beating death of Muhidin Mumin, in the alley behind Club Amsterdam in October 2008.

The main focus of the testimonies regarded Mumin's toxicology report. Reports indicate Mumin's blood-alcohol content was two times the legal limit the night of his death.

A forensic toxicologist, Mr. Hardin, said when you mix that much alcohol with cocaine, it can have adverse effects. Hardin has reason to believe Mumin's death could have been a, quote "cocaine induced death by arrhythmia".

Closing remarks will take place Thursday morning, before the case is handed over to the jury for deliberation.

Brandrup is charged with second degree murder and first degree manslaughter.
