ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)- The Rochester Youth Hockey Association is re-naming their home tournament to honor the memory of a close friend.
The league chose to honor Shannon O'Hara, who lost her battle with brain cancer in early January, with a new name for their tournament, now called the "Shannon Cup."
The O'Hara family was in attendance Saturday at the Graham Arena for the dedication and to be the first to hoist the trophy.
The association also presented the family two scholarship endowments in Shannon's name, totaling $6,400.
Mayor Ardell Brede was also in attendance for the inaugural games of the Shannon Cup.
