MAZEPPA, Minn. (KTTC) -- People hit hardest by the floods in September of 2010 are still feeling its effects, but For one Mazeppa family there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel.
"It started out being this far apart, Now I'm down ready to shut the light off,"said Bruce Meyers, who lost his home in the floods of 2010
The pieces of the Meyers family's life are coming back together again.
Mother Nature took their house over one year ago and Wednesday morning Mother Nature was playing another role, providing a setback to the second half of their home arriving.
"The DOT shut them down out by Blue Earth because of the fog. It was wide loads and you can't run wide loads for safety reasons," said Neil Daniels
But it was well worth the extra few hours.
"Its been 14 months already an extra few hours even if it was a day I'd been happy with it,"said Meyers
As move in time draws closer, those vivid memories of that September morning will always be with them.
"When everybody got evacuated down here, pretty much us neighbors went door to door to make sure everyone was out and then they eventually sounded the siren which was, they were late so it's a good thing we woke up and everybody figured it out," said Sam Meyers
The house that was destroyed back in 2010 still remains here on site but within the next couple of weeks Bruce and his family hopes to move back into their brand new home still here on the same site.
"I know there is a little bit of outside work after it's done, but that I can deal with. The big picture is right here behind me getting set today," said Bruce Meyers
A day that couldn't come soon enough.
Bruce says he wouldn't be where he was today if it wasn't for all of the help from the people whether it be from just moments after to flood to the people working on his house right now.
