A legend turns 70

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)-- The greatest boxer the world has ever seen turns 70 today. Muhammad Ali is a living legacy who has been an inspiration to many who have followed in his footsteps.

In 1942, he was born Cassius Clay and soon became known to the world as Muhammad Ali.

After refusing to fight in the Vietnam war, he became a major social figure who was greatly outspoken on civil rights and African Interest.

Local boxing coach, Pat O'Connor, once a pro-fighter himself, trained in Miami at the same gym as Ali. He says Ali exploded in and out of the ring, "He had a spirit going in this country and a revelry that doesn't exist today. No one could do or create what he did...a spasm like he did and an interest in our country."

O'Connor says Ali was always a gentleman.

Happy 70th birthday Muhammad Ali.
