Shannon O'Hara loses battle with brain cancer

Updated:

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Family and friends are remembering a courageous young Rochester girl who fought a battle with a rare form of brain cancer.

13-year-old Shannon O'Hara passed away Friday after a nine month fight with an inoperable brainstem glioma tumor.

According to the Rochester MN O'Hara Family Blog, Shannon died with her mom and dad holding her, and the family dog named Sunny at their feet.

In December, a fundraiser was held at the Rochester Athletic Club, while the family was involved in a clinical trial at Saint Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Macken River Park Funeral Home in Rochester, and just before the funeral service on Tuesday.

A Funeral Mass for Shannon will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Church in downtown Rochester.

Former KTTC reporter Chris Conte spent some time with Shannon last spring and left a tribute to her on You Tube.  Click here to watch.
