Local New Year's Eve celebrations planned

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- In just a few short days you'll be ringing in a year new, Auld Lang Syne to 2011. Whether you already have plans or are still looking for something to do, we have you covered.

For some, New Year's  is a time to reflect on the year past and the adventures to come, for others it's merely a time to let loose.

If you're looking to celebrate with family or hit up the bar scene, either way, you won't have a hard time finding entertainment in southeastern Minnesota.

If you're looking to ring in the new year in a natural setting, check out Quarry Hill Nature Center.

"A big draw is the candle light skiing and snowshoeing, so it's a bit disappointing this year with no snow, but we've got some other fun alternatives like the geo-caching and the candle light hike," said Pamela Meyer with Quarry Hill.

It's a celebration even the little kiddos can get in on.

If a bit of romance and a lot of letting loose is what you're looking for, head over to the Blue Moon Ballroom. You can learn how to rumba, before dancing the night away.

"Dancing is just plain fun, there is no getting around it. You're learning a skill that can help you gain confidence in social settings," said owner, Fred Gommels.

If you miss the fun on New Year's Eve, you can catch a dance class another time.

Finally, if you're looking to raise the stakes and win big head over to Flamingo Bingo.

"You can eat concessions, you can buy wine coolers and beers. We do sell pull tabs also, it's fun entertainment. You can win money and you can stay right in town," said Wendy Clapp.

The big bingo pot is worth $700, talk about a nice way to start 2012.
