Four Daughters Vineyard & Winery is open for business

NEAR SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (KTTC) -- If you're looking to put the "merry" in your Christmas or the "happy" in your Hanukkah we may have just the place for you. A new winery in Southern Minnesota will help you find the perfect wine to go with your holiday meal.

Four Daughters Vineyard and Winery is a family owned affair, 2 years in the making and what better way to kick back and relax with loved ones, than over a glass of Minnesota wine.

Nestled just minutes from Spring Valley, is Four Daughters Vineyard and Winery.

"My in-laws decided that they wanted to try and lure their daughters back to the area and have some sort of legacy to pass on to them and they came up with the idea of doing a vineyard and winery," said Vineyard Manager, Patrick Sween.

A concept that has the locals talking.

"It's fascinating to have a whole new type of agriculture that we're really not familiar with and see the whole process from vines, to wine making to the finished product, which we finally get to taste today," said a local Spring Valley resident.

Wine connoisseur and enthusiasts, the founders of Four Daughter's hopes to share their love of wine, which is sure to be a treat for your palate.

"Everyone tastes something different when they taste it, so one person tastes it and the person right next to them tastes something different and they can talk about what they felt when they tried it. No other food brings people together like that," said part-owner, Kristin Osborne.

Currently six different varieties of wine are for sale. Many of the grapes were developed by the University of Minnesota.

"Our vineyard is 6 acres, which means it's about 3,000 vines and when we're up to full production that's enough to produce over a thousand cases of wine per season," explained Sween.

Enough wine to keep their passion alive while keeping your wine glass full. If you're looking for a bubbly drink to celebrate with this New Years Eve, the winery also has a sparkling wine for sale.

In the months to come they'll be releasing new wines, including Marquette and more "fruity" flavored wines.
