A home for the new Children's Museum in Rochester has been decided

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)-- After 5 years of planning and a week of negotiations, spokesmen for the Minnesota Children's Museum announced that they have leased a site for the new Rochester Branch.

The 5,413 square foot location is at River Center Plaza and use to be a women-only health club called Lady Northgate. The new museum will sit next to a Little Caesar's Pizza and Glynners Pub.

Renovations will be underway soon, as they hope to have the Children's museum open by March.

Plans for the site include a fluid space with permanent and removable exhibits so revisiting will stay fresh .

Melissa Brinkman, who leads the Rochester board on the Children's Museum says, "We're looking at having an open concept here with some different stations that will have different exhibits for the kids to do, a lot of interacting things. We plan to have an area in the back where we can have kids come in from schools or groups."

Representatives say they chose this site because of the accessibility and large amount of parking.
