Winona teen hurt in party

WINONA (KTTC-TV) -- A young Winona woman is in serious condition at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester after hitting her head during a teen drinking party late Thursday night.

Hanna Bugman, 19, was rushed to Winona Community Memorial Hospital about midnight and later transported by helicopter to St. Marys.  When rescue and ambulance paramedics were called at 11:42 p.m., the young woman was found unconscious and unresponsive on the floor of an upstairs apartment at 101 West Third Street in downtown Winona.

Winona Police Chief Paul Bostrack says the young woman had been sitting on an island countertop in the kitchen of the apartment, as a teen drinking party went on in the apartment. When a young man hopped up on the counter she was somehow pushed off the counter and fell, hitting her head on the floor.  Chief Bostrack says when first responders arrived on the scene, some party-goers were leaving but others stood around Bugman waiting for help to arrive.

The chief says there were numerous beer bottles and cans strewn about the apartment.

Officers issued a number of citations for alleged violations of the city's social host ordinance to Trevor J. Althaus, 20, of West Bend, Wisconsin; Ryan W. Curtin, 20, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Patrick M. Driscoll, 21, of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; Tyler B. Krings, 21, of Byron, Minnesota; and Colin D. Schmidt Jr., 20, of St. Michael, Minnesota.  Althaus, Curtin and Schmidt were also cited for underage alcohol consumption.
