A free Thanksgiving meal

LANESBORO, Minn. (KTTC) -- Many of us spent the day with friends and family eating the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, and pie.  In Lanesboro today, one woman continued her Thanksgiving tradition. Feeding a hundred or more people, for free.

"I had decided that everyone in my family is either hunting or doing something. So I figured I might as well do something I enjoying doing," said Deb Danielson.

Danielson has enjoyed preparing the Thanksgiving meals so much, she has offered the free Thanksgiving dinner for the last nine years.

"The older people really enjoy it," said Dandelion. "That's the part I enjoy. meeting up with them... seeing how they are doing."

And since the beginning of this tradition, more and more local suppliers chip in to create one wonderful meal.

Danielson explains she just has to get the word out. "They start calling me," she said. "And then I tell them what I need and it just seems to work out."

The numbers of people seem to be increasing little by little every year.

Keith Mede's family makes the drive from all the way from Rochester and explains it's a much needed break. "Today I got off of work at 6 o'clock this morning. So there is no way I could have actually cooked a meal today," said Mede.  "It's nice to know that there is someone who is actually thinking of those who are less fortunate."
