Putting the give in Thanksgiving

OWATONNA, Minn. (KTTC) -- You can't get Thanksgiving without the giving part, and that's what hundreds of people have been and will be doing over this holiday weekend.  As the hours are counting down to Turkey Day, volunteers were stepping up in Owatonna this morning and afternoon. Turkey's, 20 of them to be exact as well as other various Thanksgiving foods and desserts were being prepared. The VFW in Owatonna is expecting at least 1000 meals to be consumed either in house or by being delivered to people who cannot make it out of their homes. Anyone who wants a warm Thanksgiving meal is welcome to stop down.

"The idea behind the dinner is that it is for people that are alone, so basically we target the elderly. We can have any number of other people come out also, if they happen to be young families away from their parents, or if the weather turns bad and people can't get to relatives they are more than welcome to come in," said organizer Trudy Pierce

The Thanksgiving meal in Owatonna will be served from 11:30am to 2pm at The VFW.
