Accidents ends with woman being extricated from vehicle

MARION, Minn. (KTTC) -- A busy weekend of traveling as people head to their Thanksgiving destination and already one accident has happened in our viewing area. Wednesday afternoon a one-vehicle crash near Marion sent two people to the hospital.

Authorities aren't sure how the accident happened, but it left one woman trapped inside her car until Rochester Fire Department was able to extricate her. Around 2:30 P.M. authorities responded to a call of a one-vehicle accident in Marion, involving a 34-year old woman and her toddler.

Eyewitnesses said the car was southbound when it slowly left highway 52, crashing into a tree and landing beside a house.

"Thee adult took a significant amount of time to extricate due to the amount of damage on the vehicle and some entanglement that individual had with the vehicle as it collapsed into the passenger compartment," said Vance Swisher, with Rochester Fire Department.

The State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident, but driving conditions were fine at the time of the crash. The victims were transported to an area hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.
