Fewer students home sick from John Adams Middle School

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Last week nearly 10-percent of students at John Adams Middle School were home sick due to the Norovirus. It seems the worst is over. On Monday only 18 kids were home sick with the symptoms of the virus out of nearly 1000 students.

As many as 90 kids went home sick last Wednesday and Thursday when the virus broke out.  There was some specialization of what caused the virus to spread so quickly.  School Nurse Kimberly Pokrandt explained the Olmsted County Health Department came in to investigate that matter.

"They checked the food service, it's not the food," says Pokrandt. "We compared the children who eight food to the children who did not eat food and we could not identify it to the food. It's kids who spread it by hand-to-hand contact."

Pokrandt again reiterated the best way to keep the virus from spreading was to keep your hands clean.
