Bluff Valley's spectacular light show is back

ZUMBRO FALLS, Minn. (KTTC) -- If you don't have a countdown to Christmas going quite yet, well, we can help you out.

It's 74 days away.  While the holidays are still over two months off, one neighboring community is celebrating its 10th anniversary of a spectacular light show sponsored by KTTC.

In fact, it's so large, it puts Clark Griswold's light display, from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, to shame!

There are more than a million twinkling lights that fill the Bluff Valley Campground. The event organizer told us this is the only fall light show in North America, and how lucky can we be that all the fun is just 20 minutes north of Rochester.

Driving thru the mile and a half light display is almost like being in a fairytale, no matter what your age.

"Like a Wow factor type thing. Everybody sees Christmas lights but it's more, these are Christmas lights in more than just Christmas themes," said Adam Water, the Campgrounds Operator.

From a punter kicking a field goal to a fire breathing dragon, that isn't all you'll find, you'll even see the one and only: Jonny Appleseed.  Adam Waters, Operates the campground, and said every year they add something new, but lately they've been focusing on "going green".

"Switching out to the LED light bulbs, more vibrant color. You'll see that as you go through as opposed to the glass bulbs which take like 80 more energy than the LED do," stated Waters.

After you've looked at all the lights, if you're still up for some fun there is a maze, Frisbee golf, or even a little bit of glow in the dark basketball.

Waters said with all of the light displays it doesn't take long to reach a million twinkling lights.

"The light maze behind me here, there are 66-thousand light bulbs in it and I think we have 2 miles of extension courts," said Waters.

If you want to see the lights at bluff valley you can do so every Wednesday thru Sunday until the end of November. The cost is $12-dollars per vehicle and includes live entertainment.  All proceeds benefit area high school extracurricular activities.
