Jared Ransom - KTTC Rochester, Austin, Mason City News, Weather and Sports

Multimedia Journalist

Jared Ransom

Jared joined the KTTC NewsCenter in July of 2011 as a Multimedia Journalist working out of the Austin Bureau.

He has worked as a reporter for the Dickinson County News in Spirit Lake, Iowa and a news intern at WHO-TV (NBC) in Des Moines.

Jared is originally from Okoboji, Iowa, where he was heavily involved in award-winning speech, music and debate programs.  He graduated from the Greenlee School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Iowa State University in May of 2011.

While at Iowa State, he was a proud member of the Iowa State University Cyclone Football "Varsity" Marching Band, the Iowa State Basketball Pep Band and a member of the honorary band fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi.  He was also heavily involved in the school's student-run television station, ISUtv, where he served as an anchor and reporter for their tri-weekly news program "Newswatch 18."  During his senior year, he also served as General Manager of the station.

Besides involving himself in numerous activities, Jared enjoys getting to spend time with his friends and family regardless of what he may have to do to spend time with them.  He also enjoys new technology and getting to explore new forms of communication.  To say that he has a Facebook and Twitter addiction may be an understatement, so feel free to follow him on Twitter @JRansom_KTTC, be a fan on Facebook at 'Jared Ransom-KTTC' or send him an email at jransom@kttc.com
