Missing Woman's Body Found

WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- Dental records and scene photos helped identify the woman whose body was discovered Sunday in the Mississippi River.

A coroner has confirmed the female as 28-year-old Anna Mulkey. Mulkey was missing from a group home since July 28th. A camper discovered her body in a marina near the Pla-Mor campground near Homer. According to Winona Police, an autopsy reveals there's nothing obvious that would indicate a cause of death.

Thursday afternoon, Anna's mother, Kay Mulkey told NewsCenter's Daniel Wolfe her daughter struggled with clinical depression. Anna had been living in an adult foster home in Winona for the past couple months, to help ensure she was taking her medications.

Anna's mom says her daughter had a happy childhood, and eventually moved to California for school and work. Anna moved back to Minnesota in 2008 when her struggles began. She says Anna was part of their church's dance worship team, and had a passion for sharing her Christian faith with people of other cultures.

Winona police say they might have a better idea of why this happened in a few weeks when the medical examiner receives Anna's toxicology report.
