Motorcycles collide, both riders may face DWI charges

ROCHESTER (KTTC) -- Two motorcycles collided Saturday morning in Rochester, and both riders will likely face charges of driving while intoxicated.

One rider, a 29-year-old man from Rochester, has already been arrested and jailed for DWI.  Lt. John Sherwin of the Rochester Police Dept. says the other man, a 26-year-old man from Mabel, has been arrested under suspicion of DWI.

The Mabel man is at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester where he's being treated for a head injury.

Lt. Sherwin says the Mabel man's motorcycle struck the other bike as the two riders were exiting southbound U.S. 52 at 2nd Street SW about 7 a.m.  The collision happened at the traffic light where the ramp intersects with 2nd St. SW.

"The man hit his head on the pavement," said Lt. Sherwin.  "Both were intoxicated.  An officer actually was nearby and came across it and was able to help. The one man was bleeding from the head."

Lt. Sherwin said the names of the two men would be released at a later time.  He told reporters he did not know where the two men had been in the hours before the crash.
