ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Round after round of heavy rain Friday caused flooding and Flash Flood Warnings in Olmsted County and sections of southeastern Minnesota.

Parts of the city received three to four inches of rain throughout the day, mostly in the northwest part of town.

Flooding was common as drivers made their way around the city, and a few cars stalled in water several inches deep. Homeowners reported flooded lawns, but few actually had water coming into their homes.

Power outages were reported by Rochester Public Utilities on Mayowood Road SW, parts of Country Club Manor, and by Northgate.  Those outages were quickly fixed by utility crews.

There were also several homes struck by lightning, but no fires reported. In Kasson, one homeowner said she heard a loud crack and her electronics shut down.  She later saw smoke coming from her TV, and called the fire department as a precaution.

Most of her electronics do need to be replaced, but there was no significant damage to the home's structure and no one was injured.
