LaPlante resigns as RCTC head football coach

ROCHESTER (KTTC) -- Brad LaPlante has resigned his position as head football coach and athletic director at Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC).  His resignation is effective immediately.

LaPlante tells KTTC NewsCenter Sports' Zac Choate that he's leaving for family reasons.  He says he taking a job at Alvin High School in Alvin, Texas, as that school's football offensive coordinator.

Alvin competes in Texas' largest class of high school football, level 5A.  LaPlante says his wife is also taking a position in the Alvin school system.

In seven seasons at RCTC, LaPlante has compiled a 64-16 record.  That includes one national championship in NJCAA Division III, four state championships, and five national bowl bids.  LaPlante was also a three-time regional coach of the year.
