Teen Night is a hit at Rochesterfest

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- If you were in downtown Rochester Monday evening your nose may have led you to civic center drive. More than 15 food stands lined the block, as teenagers could literally eat their way through a fun-filled teen night at Rochesterfest.

It's a weekday night, school is out for the summer. Do you know where your teenager is at?

"I was bored, friends wanted to go and have some fun," said Jesse Albers from Mazeppa.

They might be among the hundreds of people crowding the downtown streets of Rochester.

"It kind of keeps you away from the bad stuff, somewhere your parents can trust you'll be okay," said Rochester teens.

Providing a safe, drug-free environment for the younger generation is what Rochesterfest promoters aim to do for teen night. The only addiction you'll find here, is food.

I tried the Meat Eater, a new item on a menu this year. It is a brat wrapped in hamburger patty, with two stripes of bacon, cheese, and then it is deep fried.  It was delicious, but had quite a few calories.

"About the same nutritional value as a bacon cheeseburger, except it taste five times better," said Jim Deibel, the creator of the Meat Eater.

For those looking for something less adventurous there were tons of options.

"Fruit pizza has been very popular here tonight, as well as the fruit kabobs, everyone loves the way they look," explained Deibel.

Fresh fruit drizzled in gooey toppings, what more could the average woman ask for?

"It looks delicious, we love chocolate," exclaimed two-teenage girls.
