June 17, 2010: A day many won't forget

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC-DT) -- 48 tornadoes touched down in Minnesota on June 17, 2010, causing wide spread damage that can still be seen today.

In Northwest Rochester, the powerful storm came as a surprise to many in its path.

"Afterwards when I came out, it was just like a war zone.  Debris was everywhere," says Chris Majerus of Northwest Rochester.

An EF-1 Tornado ripped through Northwest Rochester one year ago. Roofs were torn off homes, shattered glass from windows blanketed the streets, everyday life was put on hold. This was just one tornado that would end up being part of the largest single day tornado outbreak in Minnesota history.

June 17th, 2011 couldn't be anymore different for Chris and his dog Baylie. Sunshine and calm winds took the place of threatening storm clouds.

"It seems like it never happened almost. Things are kind of back to normal," says Majerus.
