Area schools trying to keep student's safe and cool

ROCHESTER, MN (KTTC-DT) -- It is our second day of record breaking temperatures. Tuesday, highs were in the hundreds and many kids are still in school. Some of those schools don't have air conditioning.

John Adams Middle School normally has air conditioning, but it was broken Tuesday. Large fans were brought in to help cool down the school. The principal said the school district did every thing they could to cool the school down, but it was still hot inside.

Over at Washington Elementary School in Rochester there is no air conditioning. That prompted some parents to pull their children out of the classroom Tuesday.

The heat also prompted 6 Winona Elementary schools to release students 2 hours early Tuesday.
